The General Body

The General Body comprising all the Vice Chancellors/Directors of the Member Universities/ Institutes is the supreme authority of AIU. The President of the Association is the Chairman and Secretary General is the Member Secretary of the General Body. The General Body meets once a year at the venue of one of its member universities to transact business in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Association in a particular order of business.

The Governing Council

Chaired by the President, AIU, the Governing Council is the principal decision making body of the Association. It comprises the President, Vice President, Immediate Past President, Secretary General & 3 Vice Chancellors/ Directors from each of the 5 zones- two on the basis of their individual seniority and one on the basis of their institutional seniority.Besides it also has two members coopted by the Governing Council & two members nominated by the President. Research Commitee

There shall be an Inter-University Sports Board. ALl universities/institutes, which are membersof the Association of Indian Universities, shall,ipso facto, be the member of the Sports Board

In ease a universty instinute is not in a position to nominate a male or female member on the Sports Board due to non-availability of a member in the concemed sccion (male or female), that university/institute shall be entitled to nominatc a member in the other section for the purpose.
No univensity/institute shall have one male member and one female member on the Sports Board for a concurrent term. In such a situation, the female member shall be from the next senior most university/institute
